A LOCAL FILM DISTRIBUTION COMPANY
HALO Films was created predominantly to service the local independent film industry out of Western Australia.
The concept was developed by Managing Director and industry stalwart Ian Hale, who brings to the initiative over 25 years of experience working with Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures and Dreamworks Animation on countless Studio Blockbusters, franchises and Australian feature films and documentaries. Ian is the Managing Director of The Backlot Perth, a state-of-the-art screening and post-production facility and brings his wealth of knowledge in distribution, development and indie film production.
"I'm thrilled to announce the creation of HALO Films and its commitment to supporting West Australian filmmakers by having Western Australian feature films and documentaries seen in a cinema and on ancillary platforms. In particular, films that don't have a distribution deal or theatrical release in place.”; commented founder Ian Hale.
In 2022 Ian was awarded the West Australian Cinema Pioneer of the Year award for his services to the Australian film industry for over 30 years and in 2023 he was humbled to receive the Independent Spirit Award at the annual WA Screen Culture Awards for his ongoing support of the Western Australian film and arts industries.
